Tis the season for weddings and everything wedding related. I can see many of you rolling your eyes already. Well, I am not here to talk about engagement ring settings or wedding rings, I will leave the white gowns and roses for someone else. I want to talk color! Color is the new white or diamond. Perhaps because of the abundance of diamonds brides are looking for something unique and extra special, gemstones are the answer! Check out our gemstone rainbow below:
Red: This can be found quite simply in a beautiful red ruby. The ruby is a strong gemstone that will withstand wear and tear and therefore is ideal as a center stone for any engagement ring.
Orange: Fire opal or orange sapphire are great choices. Orange sapphire is beautiful, shiny and bright, a la diamond. The fire opal is a little more subdued and less brilliant; it has an earthier feel.
Yellow: The yellow sapphire, yellow diamond and citrine are all great options if you are looking for a yellow center stone. The yellow diamond can be quite subtle, where as the sapphire really shines bright.
Green: One word: emerald. From the deepest to lightest shades of green, the emerald offers it all. Emeralds are beautiful gemstones and make a truly stunning center stone for any engagement ring.
Blue: Blue diamonds, sapphire, and turquoise. Diamonds and sapphires ranges in colors and shades between deep blues, to sky like shades. Turquoise has an earthy feel, sometimes it is said to represent our planet as there are often brown veins throughout.
Indigo/Violet: Amethyst and purple sapphire are classic purple gemstones. Both are commonly used in jewelry pieces, and thus are easily accessible in terms of desired size and weight. Both are strikingly beautiful stones.
Have fun choosing a stone; there are many others available as well if you would like to branch out even further. The earth creates some amazing natural colors, so no matter which you choose there will be the perfect shade out there for you.
